OpenBack Companion App Lets You Test Your Notifications, Track Metrics

Latest in our list of features and updates, OpenBack are pleased to announce the relaunch of our Companion App.

Mobile app developers can use our Companion App to test individual notifications and entire push campaigns. Check push notifications and in-app messages to see the effects of personalization, custom HTML track, and individual message metrics in real-time. You can also simulate message delivery scenarios or test with live device data. Essentially, the Companion App gives you the most accurate testing grounds to trial your push campaign and prognosticate the results before going live.

Case Scenarios for the OpenBack Companion App

You can use the app to provide simulated data to represent different segments of users. This allows you to experiment with personalizing notifications for different countries, time zones, etc. For example, if you have a soccer app, notifications about international match results will have a different tone depending on different segments of end users. To alert English users of an England win against Spain, you might send something celebratory to the effect of “Football’s coming home! England smash Spain in 6-1 win!” Meanwhile, Spanish users would receive something of a much different tone: “¡Vergonzosa! Que partido catastrofico, perdido a Ingleterra, 6-1.”
The Companion App allows you to simulate your location being both in England and in Spain. And you’ll receive a notification for each of these scenarios. It’s essentially a way to take your push campaign for a test drive. This allows you to check the metrics before committing to anything.
